Scaddan (Australia)

In flat, mallee scrub country about 60km due north of Esperance in the deep south of WA, Scaddan is a little town that appears on few maps or postcode directories.

But, it really does exist... just ask the those hardy souls raising wheat, sheep and cattle and growing barley and other crops around the town.

Narrogin, Australia

Narrogin is at the heart of some of the best agricultural country in WA, about 190km south-east of Perth, and is the major service centre for the Great Southern Region. Renowned for its gardens and magnificent roses, in 1936 the town was dubbed the Rose City of the West by the State Governor of the day. The locals like their festivals and popular annual events include the Narrogin Eisteddfod in June, the Narrogin Show and Spring Festival in October and the Rev Heads weekend in November when the town celebrates motors and speed. To the north of Narrogin is the important conservation area called the Dryandra Woodland – a 28,000ha bush sanctuary for a wide variety of wildlife, including several rare and important species such as the numbat and woylies
