My husband and I had been planning to go to Kruger in Sept, taking a camper and spending our time in the camping areas. Howevr, a couple of days ago we learned more about Zimbabwe, and we would really like to go.
The lodges, chalets, etc., are too expensive for us, and they are all completely booked for Sept.
Many websites mention that there are camping areas, but not much information about them. So we are wondering if anyone can help us out with more specific information.
We were thinking of renting a camper, and just spending our time in Hwange. How easy is this? Do we need to make any sort of advance reservations? Can we just drive into the camp and choose a spot? What sorts of amenities are there...water? bathrooms? Would there by anywhere we could get food? Can we take advantage of the game walks and drives that are offered by the lodges?
We know that Zimbabwe has had its share of troubles, but that things are improving. Also, we are hoping that if we are staying out in the bush they would be less of a problem.
Any advice would be most appreciated!
