Goodness...what a question! Brazil has thousands of miles of beaches, each one better than the last. It's like asking which is the best cathedral to visit in Europe.

Just around Rio de Janeiro are some of the best beaches. South of Rio is Ilha Grande and Parati. North is Buzios and a series of incredible beaches all the way up to Vitoria.

Give me more details of your proposed visit. How long you have and budget.

Look at these travel blogs:

Cheers

Not necessarily the best, but two of the the most famous are definitely Copacabana and Ipanema. That being said, there are tons of other fantastic beaches to choose from. Costa Verde area aka Green Coast, between Sao Paulo and Rio is very beautiful but can be packed to the brim with package tourists. In Ceara State Jericoacoara Beach is really nice and not nearly as developed as some others offers respite from crowds. Bahia State has a huge number of beaches as well. Plus you'll get a chance to explore more of brazil's colonial past. It's a very nice area to visit.

As Martin asked, which area(s) are you planing to visit?

Buzios has 23 amazing beaches , I think some of this are the best of Brazil ( geriba , Azeda, João Fernandes and Ferradurinha)

Hi SJ!

Rio is amazing! I’ve been a few times and have since created an online guidebook on where the jet set stay, eat and play. I think this will have everything you're looking for.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Here's the link http://snipurl.com/qllmz

Best,

Ok stop stop, if someone told you thath the best beaches in Brazil are Ipanema and Copacabana, they couldn't be more wrong!!!!!

The best places are in the North, away from the big, chaotic and sometimes dangerous cities.
I was there last year, and lucky me, went to the beach which was just elected the most beautiful in Brazil: Porto de Galinhas (close to Recife).

But also the following are simply breathtaking:

-Jericoacoara
-Morro de Sao Paolo (island next to Salvador da Bahia)
-Itacaré (surfers' paradise)
-Praia da Pipa
-Trancoso
-Barra Grande

enjoy!

Brazil has so many beautiful beaches and each one dazzles depending on the time of year and the hour of the day. Personally, I love the beach at Canoa Quebrada with its perfect water temperature, clean sandy bottom and waves large enough to surf on. A beach isn't a beach without the town to support it and Canoa Quebrada has a slew of cozy restaurants/bars and a fantastic Carnival. Hotels are numerous and comfortable. A good one is Hotel Iguana. Cheers.
