The Meredith festival is the one to go to in Melbourne http://www.mmf.com.au/ but its getting pretty hard to get in as they limit tickets to preserve it's mood and the environment. I went to the first Point Nepean festival last year which was quite nice = gorgeous views! http://www.pointnepeanmusic.com/

The Falls (http://www.fallsfestival.com/) and Summerdayze (http://www.futureentertainment.com.au/Events/summadayze2007/sd_2007_webpage.html?) are the old faithfuls, and there are Melbourne versions of the aforementioned Big Day Out and Good Vibrations festivals.

If you don't mind crowds but want to keep your commute low go to some of the excellent options right in the city:
http://www.stkildafestival.com.au/
http://www.lanewayfestival.com.au/
http://www.brunswickmusicfestival.com.au/

i forgot about summerdayze music fest and i just went to it not long ago- was alot better than i thought it would be

I wanna go to big day out! I remember hearing about some girl dying a couple of years ago though, cause it was so hot.

Yeah, that's probably what I heard... that sucks... I wonder if she was on drugs.

Not booked yet but it's looking likely I'll be going to Werchter Festival in Belgium, with a cheeky couple of days in Amsterdam before

British festivals fans head abroad

Did you get your Glastonbury ticket yesterday? Or are you giving it a miss this year? More and more Brits say they are ditching UK festivals and heading to Europe.

Many fans have told Newsbeat they are fed up with the rain, and reckon events across the channel work out better value.

Main European festivals:

Pinkpop, Netherlands: 30 May - 1 June and £100 including camping (Foo Fighters, Rage Against The Machine, Kate Nash)

Rockwerchter, Belgium: 3-6 July and £140 including camping (Mark Ronson, Adele, Jay-Z)

Exit Festival, Serbia: 10-13 July and £86 including camping (Sex Pistols, the Gossip, Primal Scream)

Benicassim, Spain: 17-20 July and £132 including nine days camping (Hot Chip, Gnarls Barkley, Babyshambles)

Dour, Belgium: 17-20 July and £59 including camping (The Enemy, Gogol Bordello, Roni Size)
