You can also try www.inyourpocket.com for free downloadable guides, but I don't think they cover any cities in Italy. Sometimes just typing the country into amazon works too! I usually enjoy getting a stool, plopping down in front of the travel guide section at Barnes and Noble / Borders and going through the ones for my destination. That way I find one with a format written so I can understand, and I know it has information on the things I am interested in.
