Has anyone ever entered India with only a One Way plane ticket? I went there last year with a return ticket to London but this time I plan to go onto either Oz or China (can't make up my mind hence the One Way Ticket) and it will be much cheaper for me to but my plane ticket from India.
After calling and emailing the embassy countless times and not getting a convincing response, I am at a loose end. SO... Advice from other travellers??!

When I applied for my Indian visa a couple of months ago in Melbourne I had to show my onward itinerary/ticket. I didn't have any idea when I'd be leaving at that point so I made one up (not entirely ethical I'm sure) based on an E-Ticket receipt I had in my email inbox, printed it (in colour with Airline logos on it) and handed it in with my application. Got the visa and went to India with no probs!

Hi,

We had the same problem and were told by many people that there was no way we could get an Indian visa without onward flights but we were travelling on overland to Nepal and didn't have any flights booked in advance. We applied anyway and were issued visas without any questions about onward travel being asked. I have twice visited India and neither time were we asked about onward travel on arrival in India either.

Try the Indian consulate in Edinburgh, they never required any evidence when we applied for visas for our trip back in August and you can also just call them up, they give great advice over the phone and you dont have to wait on hold for ages to get through.

Good Luck and have a great trip!

Sian
