Hi! I am planning to spend a week in South Africa the next year. I am wondering which would be the best place. I have heard about the crime there and now I am a bit confused if it's a good decision or not. But on the other site I have already heard it's a nice country. Does someone know what is true? I mean about the crime not that's a nice country. ;-) I'd love to see Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria or Durban. What is the best of it?

Hi there.

Well what do I say about my country. Yes there is crime but if you are aware of your surroundings and take basic precautions, you should be fine. Travelling alone in South Africa will be easy but requires a bit of driving as the public transport is not very extensive. I have to say that great strides are being made in this regard.

South Africa is beautiful and the people are warm (in my opinion anyway). In eleven local languages, there is no word for stranger!!!! It is extremely diverse and every part offers a different view of Africa. One week is not enough to see the whole land so pick an area and concentrate on it. A great place to start is the province/state of the Western Cape of which Cape Town is the capital city. You should have tons of fun. party.gif

If you need any help, let me know and I will definitely try to advise if I can. Happy planning!!!!

The simplest thing for you to do is to do a search in TravelPod for *South Africa*.

In the results you get will be all the travel blogs and entries that TravelPod members have posted about *South Africa*. Read their stories and see what has happened to them and see the places they went to visit.

Those are real stories by real people... you could not find any better information and references anywhere!

You can even email some of the members who have already been to places you want to go to and ask their opinions

Can't figure it out ...we can! Just ask us!
