Mexico First Time - 2.5 weeks

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 4 Joined: 17-November 09 Member No.: 514521 Nominate me as a Local Expert	My partner & I are travelling to Mexico in Early January for 2.5 weeks. First time there & am in need of some advice on which cities to see/stay! THere are so many options... We enjoy beautiful beaches, food & would like to see some Mayan achaeological sites.... so far have decided to arrive in Mexico city then travel to Puerto Vallarta > Acapulco > Oaxaca > Cancun. Had also read about Guadalajara. Any recommendations for first timers?

Oaxaca has some archaeological sites but they're not Mayan Second: Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun are VERY touristy so expect high prices in services and souvenirs (also expect knock offs). PS: "Sanitized, tourist Mexico"... It makes me feel bad and dirty
