Around the world, there are many names for Saint Nicholas. In most of the United States, he is known as Santa Claus, but in the state of Hawaii, he is Kanakaloka. In the United Kingdom, he is Father Christmas, while in Russia he is Ded Moroz, or Grandfather Frost. As the year draws to a close, even in countries that are predominately Muslim the well-known image of this Christian bishop surfaces. In Turkey, the image of Noel Baba seems to pop up everywhere as New Years approaches.

Santa's Turkish Roots

What is he called in your part of the world?
