Britain’s roads could descend into chaos this winter due to shortages of grit after it was revealed that stocks in half of local authority areas would only last for six days.

Once again, winter catches Britain by surprise!

Well the first half of winter has gone and the weathermen are threatening us with another load of snow
But we will only find out if the councils and Government have learnt their lesson (probably not) about the British weather

and I bet if it comes again there will still be morons who drive like idiots who thinks that all they need to do is pile on the power and then look very worried as their cars go nowhere except sideways

Apparently they "turned down" the chance to buy half-price grit last year aswell! Suckers! Well England had it alot worse than Scotland from what I hear but the whole thing was rather calamitous... I imagine it will happen all over again in Feb!

You still have snow? There is snow on the hills around Edinburgh and Stirling and big mounds of icy snow piled up at the side of roads and carparks up here!

Yup up on the higherhilltops we have a whits covering and this morning aided by an overnight temp which dipped to -4

I have also same opinion manzara

But The Peak District is in the UK - it's in North West England, and pretty high up, hence the reference "higherhilltops" I'd say they were pretty snowed in up there at one point, and cut off from 'the world' - so that was their winter snow chaos. If it was anything like Ireland, the farmers in the high regions are only just now managing to get to their dead sheep carcasses that were buried in the snow and suffocated - livelihood is also winter snow chaos I believe...and all down to the snow still, as no one could get out to reach secluded regions by road
