Frankfurt, Germany. No idea what it'll be like as I've never been there but it was the cheapest place i could fly to. Beats staying in Blighty anyway where entrance fee to my local pub is £40 on NYE!!!!

I've quit my job, got a one-way ticket and leaving for a Latin American adventure in about 14 days! I hope to be able to party it up in Havana, Cuba this New Years :-)

- I'm getting very excited! :-P :-P

Good luck on China Airlines. Sure their safety record is on par with that of Indonesian carriers but I still used them and found them OK. I only flew from HK to Taipei return on a very old Boeing plane and it was fine, and the stewardesses were pretty hot! They have a much newer fleet now compared to 2 years ago so you'll be fine biggrin.gif

Nice one Rich, I'm impressed with the 'for-the-hell-of-it-ness'.

I was actually in Frankfurt early this time last year and had a great time: some amazing food, excellent knees up with the locals and all that jazz. Make sure you try the apfel wein - a local thing which they throw down their necks by the jug full. If you're a non-smoker the bar mist will kill you but you'll still have a blinder. Enjoy.. drinks.gif

As for me, I'll be spending Chrissie and New Years in Melbourne this year, another summery festive season centred around barbecues, beers and outdoor pools. Last year was on a beach in Portugal so I'm looking forward to another random one. Should be good..

A bit late, but I spent it here in Boston, although when the big bottle of Jim Beam came out, I'm not all that sure where it was spent after. Nice work on the one-way ticket to L.A. (Latin America). I couldn't think of a better place to spend the Eve than a place I have never been!

Frankfurt gets a bad rep but I thought it was a pretty good little city. Sure it's got it's problems but no more so than other cities. It may not have an abundance of sights but I still found enough to do for a couple of days, and it was a welcome break from Blighty!

I think the smoking ban had kicked in as for the first 2 days there was no problem at all. On NYE there was a big demonstration against the ban and all the pubs were disgusting!

Nice one mate, glad you enjoyed it.

It was the hottest NYE on record here in Victoria. It topped 44 degrees that night and we had to drink so much ice cold beer to cool ourselves down we could have built a separate house out of empty stubbies..

I'm sure that was a hardship for you......

It's actually a gorgeous sunny day in England today. Blue sky, suns out and a balmy 8C!!

Edit: It's pissing down now, just in time for my lunch break.
