I would like to know which European budget airline do you consider the most reliable plus the cheapest of all, besides Easyjet and Rynair.
How many others do they exist, how reliable are they, and what about luggage charging.

It is winter time, and it is really hard flying with just 10 kgs if you don't want to be charged with excess weight. I believe this weight scales should be flexible during winter times.
Can you recommend one or two that are reliable for me please?

Lately we are charged so much for having a couple of excess weight, as well as when paying with our credit cards.
I found an article in the newspapers, but wonder if there are more budget airlines in Europe that you know of!

I moved this to the Europe forum, since it deals only with Europe.

Personally, I have no idea. I'm sure there are a multitude to choose from.

I always search for flights on Skyscanner as they scan most airlines prices for you. I fly often as I live in Ireland, have family in Scotland and a boyfriend in England, plus work links in England. My cheapest airlines are Ryanair and Aer Lingus and I never check in a bag for a short trip (which I class as up to a week wink.gif I travel very lightly!)

Basically, every time I've looked Easyjet and RyanAir are the cheapest within the UK. However, they are NEVER the cheapest once you add in all the extras. And I travel light at that!

If you are in the UK or around there, British Airways may be your best bet. I know that sounds a bit crazy as they are THE carrier but they have recently introduced fares to compete with the budget airlines. There's a lot of pluses. They fly out of Heathrow or Gatwick at decent times (good for public transport). The first bag is FREE. Basically, no extra anything.

Aer Lingus also tends to be cheapest for flights to and from Ireland. While they operate like a budget airline (have to pay for food, etc) I found the staff to be really professional and SO nice.

As for Scandinavia, I used Sterling as it was a budget carrier originating out of Copenhagen so it had good connections. Scandinvian prices are always higher but I was able to get flights for $100 one way or lower. It seems they may have been bought out. Their website is at www.cimber.com . I also experienced some bad delays with them. Take an early morning flights. Later in the day, all flights get backed up as they book the flights too close together. Should also mention they fly to some far off destinations in Norway and such.

At least in the UK, skip flying or trains and just take Megabus. Book early for one pound fares with no add-ons. I took an overnight bus from Edinburgh to London for 1.50 and didn't have to pay for a hostel.

Sorry, I disagree about the flights...I fly a lot between the UK and Ireland, and I wish BA was the cheapest - occasionally that is true, but more often than not it is Ryanair or Aer Lingus, even with the add-ons. I guess it also depends on flight times - I tend to travel outside peak hours too.

I agree with what you're saying about the airports, but both Ryanair and Aer Lingus operate from Gatwick too...Gatwick is my most common airport in London when I go

Sure as well, within the uk, megabus is great. You can also get advance tickets on www.thetrainline.com cheaply (though not as cheap as megabus!)

Agree with Kathryn, even with add-ons, Ryanair is 99% of the time far cheaper than BA. Take away the add-ons, which are normally avoidable, and find yourself a sale seat? Then its anything from £1/E1 a seat...
