My husband and I are heading to Huaraz for about 10 days around Christmas. We plan to do some hiking and are looking for information about how challenging some of the treks are. I had knee surgery about 6 months ago and have found that tour agencys are often not honest about how difficult a trek is. We are interested in doing the 2-3 day trek from Huaraz to Chevin. And either the Laguna 69 trek or another 1 day trek. Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated. In general walking downhill or decline is the only terrain that bothers my knee but slippery and very rocky terrain can also be bad.

I moved this post to the Peru forum for you:

I found this blog entry to be interesting:

The blogger's friend had a bad knee, but she managed to complete the hike with the help of a tree branch. So you might want to bring a walking stick.
