Okay I'm hoping I just didn't screw up to bad. I'm going to be traveling from London to Dublin in March. I just booked the cheapest flight I could. It was from Gatwick. Now that I'm looking at a map it looks like Gatwick is an hours drive or better from my hostel in London. Is there a rail that runs to Gatwick from London. If not what would be my cheapest/quickest way to get to Gatwick? Thank you for all your help, Chance

Hi Chance,
There is a train from London Victoria station, called the Gatwick Express. It takes about 30 minutes.

The other option is to take the easybus.

yeah the Gatwick Express isn't cheap but it is fast. overall, Gatwick is a better airport cause it's not near as crazy Heathrow. you just want to make sure not to book flights out of Stansted or some of the the other airports. they can be really hard to get to especially for early flights and cheap airlines love to use them.

I'm almost on first name terms with the staff on the Gatwick to Dublin route! Definitely the best choice of route, and it's great that Ryanair & Aer Lingus have access to Gatwick airport - I'm assuming it's one of those you got!

As well as the Gatwick express, there are also slow trains (but they're not that bad!) which are cheaper. Check out www.thetrainline.com for times and prices - just type in London to Gatwick, as you can go from a couple of London stations...

Yeah, the London-Brighton trains stop off there. Gatwick is far better than Heathrow, and although further out of London, is easy (in my opinion) to get to.

I'm going to be meeting a friend at Gatwick. I want to make sure there is only one station for the Gatwick express within Gatwick? Is there a good noticeable rally point at the Gatewick express. I planned on meeting there, because I'm flying in from Dubai and he is flying in from the States. I figure we'll be in different terminals.

Yep, there is only one station for the Gatwick express. Probably easiest if when you get off the train, you follow the signs up and into the airport, and meet at the automatic doors at the top, just before going into the airport. These are the only doors into the airport itself from the station, and it's like a foyet area
