Unfortunately we were unlucky enough to have much more of the Mongolian currency than we had wanted when we entered into China, without knowing that every bank would deny us of changing their neighbours currency. What is so bad about this money? And why will no one take it? It's still money after all. Hopefully we'll get lucky and find somewhere in Australia to change it perhaps... unless anyone else has had an experience like this before?

We're also unlucky in that no other travellers are heading to Mongolia either as it's too cold now.

It sucks.

Hmmm... yes you should be able to change it no problem in Australia.

Can you wait till you get there, or do you need to use this money right now?

No, we can wait. It's just that when we were in Britain we were unable to get Mongolian money, also in Russia too. So we are suspecting that it's a currency that nobody wants. But we shall cross our fingers and hope.

Hi there, I've found myself in the same position with excess Tugriks, I couldn't change them anywhere in Asia and now back in OZ but had no luck with bank here.
What was the outcome for you guys, did you find a place in OZ to convert them. ?

Yeah, no luck for us. The Mongolian Embassy is a good idea though. I'll try emailing them. smile.gif
