I'm going to Brussels in May. We have tickets to a concert in Antwerp at the Sportspalais on the last night. Should we change hotels and stay in Antwerp that night? How far is the train station and sportspalais. Do the subways and trains run after midnight? How difficult is it to get transportation back to the airport from antwerp?

There are two airports in Brussels, does this help?

In the price of any ticket from 'het sportpaleis', public transportation is always included within Antwerp. (bus or tram also called pre-metro). The organisation always guarantees free transport till ap. 1 hour after every event. So, there is no problem to get back to the city of Antwerp, the central station or any park and ride parking. I often go to the sportpaleis. ( recently rewarded as best concert hall of the world)

The problem could be the train. There is a very good connections between Antwerp and Brussels (ap. 45 minutes) but the last train is at about 20 minutes past midnight.

If you want to go directly from Antwerp to Brussels National Airport, you have to take the same train first to brussels and there switch over to the train to the airport ( 6 trains/minute) but the trains don't ride after midnight!

Staying one night in Antwerp would be a good alternative. Antwerp is a very beautiful city.

accurate train info: ( yes, in english): http://www.b-rail.be/main/index.html
