Does anyone have any adventure sugestions for Manta, Ecuador? Surf spots, mountain biking, or tours into the mountains? Any help is appreciated!

Manta is a pretty grim port city and somewhat tacky seaside resort. It is the nearest beach to Quito, so gets quite crowded on weekends. That being said, the surroundings away from the city are enchanting, with wonderful beaches and spectacular forested mountains.

This company, Metropolitan Touring, is one of the oldest and most respected tour operators (but by no means the cheapest) in Ecuador. Here is their list of excursions in and around Manta.
