This is the only place I've visited in Cambodia but it's worth a visit to see the Bokor National Park.
Kampot is about 5 hours by bus from the capital and as I remember it costs about US$5. Friends of mine stayed at the Mea Culpa resort run by an Irish guy called Ben and it has some pretty good reviews, apparently they do a great pizza. Check out their web site. Also make sure you go when the park is open, I think it shuts for part of the year.

Agreed, Kampot is a great spot. Bokor is quite unlike anywhere else in Cambodia and is definitely worth a visit. As are nearby Kep and Rabbit island.

I had a totally wild time in this part of the country a few years ago. I've got a blog entry and some photos here.
