As the title says, where are you planning to go next? Be it a massive overland multi-year world tour or a weekend break, what are your plans?

I'm off to London for the weekend on friday, Stockholm in 3 weeks for 2 days and Slovenia for a few days in October. Been back in England for a year and it's driving me crazy so I need to get out!!! Still got a weeks holiday left at work so I'm sure I'll book somewhere in November as well biggrin.gif

So where is everyone going???

Just got back from a fantastic weekend in the Muskoka's up north in Ontario. Lake Rosseau. Warm waters, a huge lake, some fishing and swimming, eating, reading and all in a beautiful cottage.....so good! Three days felt like an eternity! It was so good we're heading back up on Friday afternoon. Booking off work early smile.gif

Staying home is driving me nuts too! If I can't have 6 months of overland, then I'll settle for a few relaxing days away smile.gif .....for now.

Both your travels sound like fun!

I am leaving in 4 hrs to go to the airport for a flight to Puerto Rico with my DH and kids. For once this is not a business trip for him. He has a good friend who is from PR and is now living there again, so DH is really looking forward to seeing him, and I am looking forward to meeting him and his family. We are also looking forward to seeing and experiencing all that PR has to offer. We have not been there before.

Other trips planned are France (and maybe Switzerland) in October--the 4 of us. And the 4 of us plus some of my family members (my sister, neice, and neice's daughter) to Washington, DC/Williamsburg, VA during Thanksgiving week to see the Smithsonian and other sites of our Capital, as well as Colonial Williamsburg, much of which is for the benefit for the 3 children (of course, we adults would enjoy it as well). None of my family members or my children have been to DC or VA before. I think we will be heading back to Japan in January or February of next year also. I hope, any way.

Who knows where else we may end up?

Remind me to never visit this thread while I am not travelling!

Mmmm... I have three more months that I just decided to dedicate to Ecuador, Colombia and Cuba.
Then 2 weeks in Europe after 18 months away, and then using some remaining flights to go to Beijing for the Xmas shopping... coming back with the transmandchurian to spend Xmas in France.

Then, highly demotivated by the ski season, I'll be looking for a job, preferably in south america, but that is in 4 months, too far away to predict!

The dreaming and planning is already half of the travelling I think

Reminds me of my mother and father-in-law. He retired last year but has spent the last few decades traveling the world on business and she has been fortunate enough to visit many beautiful places with him. Have fun! smile.gif Must be nice to get DH to yourself and the kids!

After coming back from Argentina/Brazil/Uruguay in July, I couldn't settle down. Since then I've driven to Sandusky Ohio and Atlantic City with a friend of mine for short weekend trips. I also just came back yesterday from a four-day road trip where I hit Halifax, PEI, Maine and Cape Cod.

In two weeks, I'll likely head up north to upstate New York (and possibly across the border), Labor Day in the states will likely see me flying back home to SE Minnesota and for the holiday break over winter, I may possibly go to China or India for a week.

Next year I plan on heading to India or Thailand (whichever still remains) then I'll finally settle down to actually try to finish up graduate school.

I probably shouldn't have started this thread as I'm now incredibly jealous! It probably doesn't help that I've just got to work, it's grey and miserable outside and I have no work to do! I think I'll use this as inspiration to start saving and get the hell out of Blighty again. But first I need to get my networkig qualifications out the way........ Anyone got a spare £1500?

Ahh, responsibilities smile.gif I try to think of it this way; we're still young, we've got alot of years ahead, and though we wish we could go now we will still go. Patience goes a long way. Too bad I don't have much of it! smile.gif

So yeah, thanks alot for starting this thread Rich! tongue.gif

In a couple of weeks I'm heading to San Francisco with my partner, and a few days before that he's moving in, so that'll be a trip in and of itself. haha.

After that, we're not sure. We've talked about going to New York, but February may have to be a trip to the UK to check out universities - hopefully I'll be going to school in the fall of '08! smile.gif

Been taking advantage of the cheap airlines?? I booked a few days in Berlin next month for £13 return including taxes, but I've decided not to go as I'm trying to save up for my return to Japan in early-October. Going to stay there until February, go to Canada in the spring, do a CELTA course in somewhere like Prague in the summer, then hopefully get into the whole teaching abroad thing by the end of next year...

Making plans keep me going whilst I'm back home working in a crap job...3 or 4 months at a time is the maximum I'll spend here over the next few years I think. I like coming home to spend time with friends and family, but as soon as I have enough cash I want to be on my way again!

£13 inc taxes? Thats crazy! Where did you find that? Unfortunately mine are nowhere near as cheap as that. Flight to Stockholm is with Sterling which came to £85! Could have flown for half that if I had gone with Ryanair but it's a b!$@% to get to Stansted from here and Gatwick is only 30 miles away.

Flight to Slovenia was £55. I was considering flying to Frankfurt for £20 but I had 4 days so decided it was worth a bit of a splurge to go further. Outbound flight to Klagenfurt, Austria with Ryanair was £10 but flight back from Ljubljana on Easyjet was £45! Oh well it's only money and it's gone now so I don't have to worry about it biggrin.gif

I also booked a return to Dublin towards the end of next month, and I kid you not when I say it was...2p including taxes!

Keep checking Ryanair's website as they occasionally have a 48 hour sale where they give away thousands of "free" flights (actually a couple of pence rather than free, but not complaining). These cheap flights are usually for Monday-Thursday but this is ideal for me as I work weekends and do optional overtime during the week! See here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthrea...ghlight=ryanair

Some people slag off Ryanair, but I've never had any problems with them, and at those prices (£10 to Norway last year), I wouldn't moan even if something did go wrong.

Honestly? There are loads of flights on the site for 1p but they work out £10 after taxes. Never seen a flight for 2p return inc taxes lol!

Holy $#*(!!! Those are some crazy cheap prices. And this flies out of the UK? That totally makes me want to go there in AUTUMN '08. haha. Just for the travel opportunities! I'll have to convince my partner not to work so we can travel whenever I'm not in class. That's why the innovators invented laptops, right? smile.gif Woohoo!!!

Going to lectures is overrated anyway smile.gif What's the point in going when all they do is read off a PowerPoint presentation and then put it on the Intranet later biggrin.gif

If you haven't already take a look at the Ryanair website and look at where they fly to from London Stansted (they may call it London but it most certainly isn't!!! Bloody miles away)

Honestly. It was a 48 hour sale, as in the discussion on the link in my previous post. I heard some anti-Ryanair people booked entire planes out with no intention of going, just so the company wouldn't get the profits from 'extras' such as meals, baggage, insurance, etc...

I live in the north so my options were a little limited in this sale, but I could have gone to Barcelona from East Midlands airport, wednesday to wednesday, for 2p!

I truly love my country but am hugely jealous of all the UK flights that are cheap as chips! Just to fly from one province to another is hundreds and not just a few unless you find "good" deals. The best bet can often be to find a cheap flight to London and fly out of there b/c often it ends up being much less.

$1 flights. Huh! blink.gif
