I just took Tuesdays with Morrie out of the library, and I was a little skeptical, because I thought it would be too cheesy... is it cheesy?
How did you find Tuesdays with Morrie?

Oh, thanks for asking! I liked it... I was glad it was short though, it was a little cheesy, but it was also cute and it made me smile. If it was any longer, I would have been annoyed.

Did you find any good fundamental points to living life that so so many people miss?

I love Tuesdays with Morrie.. I didn't find it cheesey at all...

I've also read For one more day and 5 people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom but Tuesdays with Morrie is definately the best of the bunch..

I'm going to read this and hopefully find out about what you're referring to hear....

I've been meaning to read Tuesdays with Morrie for a while now, but didn't get round to it - this thread gave me another gentle nudge, my copy arrived this morning - I'm excited to finally read it!

Okay, so I finally read Tuesday with Morries. I didn't find it cheesy, but I also didn't enjoy it too much.

Just listened to Kabul Beauty School. Incredible view of the culture of Kabul, Afghanistan. Puts current events in perspective.

I really enjoyed this book....makes me really want to go there.....

I grab something by Neil Gaiman, usually before I leave, but on the trip as well if necessary.

it really is, in a round about way that book is what put me on the course to plan my trip through asia. Basically my friend was reading the book and really hyped up about taking a vagabonding trip and we started dreaming together about living like vagabonds traveling the world, she grew out of it and I started planning my trip.. and then I bought the book. haha.

After a year of hunting in second hand stores, finally found "Them" by Jon Ronson.

Basically an amusing look at extremists everywhere, and the huge similarity they all have. Similar to Louis Therioux.

I am babysitting for a friend this summer and he has a son that's 13 years old. I'm trying to get him to read more, but he's convinced that books are "boring." Any good book recommendations for a 13 (almost 14) year old boy???

Thanks!

That was the one thing I suggested (great minds think alike!) but he's not into sci-fi...which makes this a tougher challenge to find a good book for him :-)

Ask him what he would like!

See what he watches on TV and really likes and that will give you an idea as to what kind of stuff he likes and get books with the same themes!
