Has anyone been to "The Beach" featured in Leonardo DiCaprio's movie? I love that movie and have always wondered if the real thing is as amazing as in the movie.

Yes - it is pi pi Island (Kho Phi Phi) - it was devastated in the Tsunami.
It was amazing.

I lived in Greece for ten years, and I gotta say there's three at least there: Koukounaries on the island of Skiathos; Platys Gialos on Cephalonia, and Falassarna on the west end of Crete. Plus I now live in St. Thomas, USVI and in my neighborhood we have Magens' Bay; across the water St. John offers Cinnamon Bay and Trunk Bay; and Tortola has The Baths.

Hi
Please share the beaches you recommend! I got too many, but the first one is... Waikoloa beach in Hawaii as said in my entry

I would love to see every different land on the earth... I`ll try my best
I want to visit Greece soooo bad right now. I don`t exactly know where I got that from, but that`s my aim

Hopefully fly there on my own

btw, this is a great place to keep records and pics of my travel logs

My next suggestion is........... beach.gif

Just about any beach on the south east coast of Australia! Turkey? No way! Really no good beaches anywhere in the Med. Great beaches on some of the smaller islands in the Maldive group (Indian Ocean) with beautiful white, soft sand but no surf to speak of.

The beaches of Quintana Roo, Mexico on the Caribbean Coast. Not far from Belize, which I aim to see in the not too distant future.

I want to put a word in for the beach at Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Who knew you could find that caribbean color and still be in the USA? I also love Pacific Beach in San Diego, California and the beach on Little Stirrup Cay, aka Half Moon Cay. A day at Half Moon makes cruising worth it some winter months.

Ft. Lauderdale beach on Las Olas Street! You'll get whiplash here!

you can hire a chair to lounge around and the service comes to you
you can get a fresh coconut with vodka, rum and coke, earrings, hammocks, bikinis, henna tattoos all from the comfort of your own seat

all the while there's soft samba music playing in the distance and view of the mountains in the far distance is magificent

i was there last year for valentines day... you can imagine huh?

I was on Phi Phi in 2006 and it was all back up and running. There was some visible damage but tourism is fully operational.

A couple of my favorite beaches are Manuel Antonio on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, a wide beach several miles long with great waves for body surfing. Also in Costa Rice, the beach at Puerto Viejo on the Carribean side, with turquoise waters and nice white sand beach with very few people. If you want to see some pictures check out (Mirek Hrabanek on Facebook)

Cheers.

Having been born and raised in Hawaii, the 50th State does indeed have some beautiful beaches; however, my favorite beach is on the island of Formentera in the Balearic Islands.

I just found these two beaches in Puerto Rico, recommended by Jaunted:

Has anyone been to Laquillo Beach and/or Ocean Park Beach?

Three Cliffs Bay, South Wales, in my humble opinion, will give any beach in the World a run for its money (on a rare occasion when the sun comes out)!
Tofo Beach, Mozambique is gorgeous... white sand and crashing waves... great for body surfing.
Exmouth - Western Australia - great snorkelling but has got a really strong rip that runs along the length of the beach then out to sea... The trick is to start at the top of the beach, let the rip take you down the lenght of the beach, then swim across it, get out and walk back up the beach to start again.
One Foot Island and Muri Beach - Cook Islands... Gorgeous.
Cannibal's Bay, south Island, New Zealand... Sea Lions park themselves on the beach and flick sand over themselves. Then randomly (when we were there) 80 horses and riders come from nowhere and canter down the beach through the surf!
Ko Mook, Thailand.
Bondi Beach, Sydney. Does the view of Sydney harbour from The botanical gardens count? Bliss!
