I'd love to see this turn into a photo thread, I don't have the pictures from my time in Europe, Tunisia or the US on this computer but I can post photos of the Mexican sites if there's any interest. I'd also like to see other people's pictures of the World Heritage Sites they've visited.

Those are some great photos you have as well! I would be interested to see a few of your shots of Mexican sites. The Hiroshima one of the Peace Dome looks different from when I saw it..... is that scaffolding around it?

57 is really impressive! Thanks for sharing your photos, some of them brought back some great memories (and also makes me think I need to get my photos off my film and onto disc).

You will love Iguazu Falls - the share volume of water is incredible.

I went to Giants Causeway last weekend. I expected it to be bigger, I don't know why though! And, I can't believe people are allowed to walk all over it - how many other World Heritage sites does that happen at?

I went back down to Gyeongju last Sunday. This shot is of some of the Silla Dynasty earthwork tombs near the downtown area.

Most of the historic areas are really touristy. They're pretty and impressive if you can get away from the massive crowds though. I really like the city itself, there's a fairly well established tourist area and once you get away from it into the downtown area it's much nicer. The surrounding countryside is really beautiful too, lush, forested mountains interspersed with ponds, rivers, rice paddies and small farms.

Edited to add what I think is a better picture of the tumuli (earth mound tombs) in Gyeongju (by the way I just realized that travelpod spells it "Kyongju" which is an older transliteration, Lonely Planet and most local sources use Gyeongju)

IPB Image

and an image of the Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, which I went to yesterday. When I applied to teach in Korea the first job I was offered was in Suwon but it took me too long to get my visa paperwork through so I had to pass on it and go with the job in Daejeon that I'm currently working. I really wish I had been able to take the job in Suwon, I like that city so much more.
