Thanks for the offer... sounds like an interesting country. Tell us a bit about it?

What are the main attractions in your country?

Funny! I was just talking to someone yesterday who said they wanted to go to North Africa but thought it would be dangerous as a woman travelling solo...is that true?

Travelling in North Africa can be ok for a single woman. She just needs to pick the right country and be able to put up with stares. Both Morocco and Tunisia are fine but Algeria as a country to travel can be quite dangerous, so we have been told. We were on a bus ın Turkey last week with a couple of guys from Tunisia and they said that they considered Algeria to dangerous for them

If you do go to Tunisia, make sure you eat loads of olives and harissa

Lucky

Harrissa is a chilli paster. As soon as you sit down, the restaurant will give you a plate wıth Harıssa(chilli paste), olive oil and olives with a baguette. It's great.

Um, this is the appetiser, offered for free of course. If you use a restaurant from the LP, they will give you mild harissa. Always visit a restaurant in Arabic script. You will be very well looked after and the harıssa will be HOT

The Algerian portion of the Sahara extends south of the Saharan Atlas for 1,500 kilometers to the Niger and Mali frontiers. The southern zone of the Sahara is almost totally arid and is inhabited only by the Tuareg nomads and, recently, by oil camp workers. The men wear an indigo-coloured fabric which stains their skin and has earned them the name of “Blue People of the Desert.”

Countries neighbouring Algeria are: Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Libya and Tunisia. In Algeria as in multiple Arab countries, the word " hospitality " is not only a word. You will be admirably received in any area of the country.
