Update
There appears to be an issue with the Uploader in Firefox 2.0.0.5 on MAC OSX. I believe this is a Firefox issue. Until Firefox releases a new update try using Safari, an older version of Firefox or Camino.
--Shaun
You've asked for it, and we hear you loud and clear... We've just released a new set of photo album tools. It's a massive improvement that should make uploading your travel memories to TravelPod so much easier.
Here's a brief list of the new features:
1. Album Editor - you can now edit all your photos for an entry all at once! No more editing one image at a time. 2. Photo Sorter - you can sort your photos by dragging and dropping them in place, no more wacky numbered titles. 3. Video thumbnails are now created for videos automatically after you upload them. 4. Media Player - we have a new player for MP3's and windows users can now view your videos in an embedded media player instead of downloading the video first. 5. Photo Uploader - finally a drag and drop photo uploader that allows you to upload files from your hard drive by dragging and dropping. Photos are automatically previewed, resized and optimized *before* being uploaded for lightening fast uploads. You can even rotate them before you upload. We've also improved photo handling so that you should very rarely see any errors with uploads. 6. Photos with duplicate titles are now allowed - no more "Ooops you have a dup title" errors 7. Now you can upload as many photos as you want, no more "5 at a time limit"
To use these new features it's best that your browser be up-to-date but it should work on most: - IE: 5.5 or better - Firefox: version 1.0 or better - Safari: a recently updated version
There are a few lingering issues with the photo uploader that we're working on: 1. When uploading large videos or images, the progress bar tends to hang on windows machines, please be patient your file is uploading. 2. The CMYK image format is not supported in the Java version (on any non-IE browser) of the photo uploader. They will appear either very small or blocky after upload. However if you are using Internet Explorer CMYK images will work fine. 3. Draging and dropping photos in the uploader on the MAC using Firefox does not work, use the Add or Add All buttons.
We'd love to hear from you, let us know what you think!
Note: If you experience any difficulties, please let us know by posting the browser type, version and operating system.
Cheers, Shaun McQuaker Web Developer, TravelPod

QUOTE(pykesonthego @ Jul 31 2007, 02:41 PM) As an AOL user, I was not surprised when I could not get the new uploader to work, as AOL often provides challenges in these areas. I managed to upload 5 photos by using the old photo uploader, but now I can't get back into the old uploader to add more photos! When I click on the "Photo Album" for the entry, it brings me to a new "Edit" page, which would let me edit the photos I've already uploaded, but does not offer an "Add More Photos to this Album" option. I see the word "upload" at the top, but it does not appear to be a link of any kind. All your other recent updates to the system have been wonderful additions, making the whole process so easy for us TravelPodders! Thank You! PykesontheGo
Thanks for the feedback. The upload button is a link to upload more photos. It may not appear as a link (no link icon when your mouse is over it) due to your AOL browser. Go ahead and click it though and you should be brought to the upload page. Hope this helps! Regards, Shaun

At any rate, I did manage to get back into the Old Uploader to upload more photos. Any hints on how to get the new one to work (it's pretty much just a blank page with non-selectable "upload" botton), or should I just be happy with the much faster uploading in the old uploader? BTW (and probably should be in another topic)...it doesn't seem right that we've traveled "0% of the world" after after putting about 40,000 miles on our motorhome and car (separately) in North America as reported in our last year and a half's TravelPods! Don't we land-locked travelers deserve some credit for our travels?

Also providing me the operating system would be great. If you are using IE with AOL you might have to change some security settings to allow running ActiveX programs. Regards, Shaun

Regards, Shaun Shaun - we actually use the AOL software to sign on (i.e., we don't sign onto IE and then get into AOL.com), but I do believe that AOL uses IE for its access. According to System Information in AOL, Web Browser(s) noted are : Microsoft IE Build 7.0.5730.11, and secondarily, Netscape 8.03.4 The Operating System is XP Media Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 2. When I tried to enter the new photo upload system, something showed up and went away very quickly on the TravelPod screen that started with "ActiveX", but it was gone too quickly for me to read what it said. Am also running Norton Internet Security (and AOL has its own built-in security system, which can be a challenge, as well). The hassle of adjusting too many security settings may not be worth it to me - now that I'm once again able to upload photos using the old system.

Okay it sounds like you are using Internet Explorer and a recent version so the photo uploader should work for you. I believe the issue is a security one for you. When you goto the upload page you should see a bar across the top (called the information bar in IE: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/w...2_infobar.mspx). You should be able to right click on this and select Install ActiveX plugin (may not be the exact wording). If you are not seeing this then you norton security settings are too high. Try following the steps on this site to allow norton to run activex plugins: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.n...c=beta_feedback. If this doesn't solve it you may have to play with AOL security settings to enable activex. If that doesn't work you can try a non-IE browser like Netscape or Firefox. This will run the Java version of the software and most browsers allow Java applets to run no problem. Hope this helps! Cheers, Shaun

The slider actually WAS set on default/Medium, but there was one other setting option under that tab that remained on High until I did a custom reset to Medium. Just went to the new upload page and uploaded 2 pictures as easily as can be - it's SOO quick and easy, I can't believe it! I think you may have helped me resolve some other ActiveX Issues I've been dealing with, too, so THANKS A BUNCH!

I think you may have helped me resolve some other ActiveX Issues I've been dealing with, too, so THANKS A BUNCH! Awesome, great to hear! When using the new uploader the order that you add images to the upload pane will be the order that the images appear in your photo album. The one caveat is that if you upload say 10 pictures at a time, the most recent set of 10 pictures will appear at the start of your album (in the order you selected them for upload of course). If for instance you wanted one of the images from the most recent upload to appear at the end of your album you would have to use the Sort page to drag and drop that image to the end of the album. The easiest scenario is to upload all your images at once, then you can be assured of the correct order. Hope this helps! Regards, Shaun
