My family of 4 have booked in to the Park Hotel in the Shiodome area of Tokyo. I gather from several travel blogs that travelling by train with luggage, if it involves changing trains, is not advised, rather one should use the airport limousine bus.

But the bus timetable shows the 1st service to the Park Hotel is 1:50 p.m. and we arrive at 8:00 a.m.

We could trust to luck that a morning bus will take us all the way; OR take the bus to the City Air Terminal then take a cab; OR struggle on the train; OR lodge our luggage in a locker and go to Narita town for a few hours.

Any advice, please?

I think you should get the train as it really isn't difficult and pretty cheap too. Take the Keisei line from Narita to Ueno Station. Ueno is a major station in north Tokyo and when I took the train it cost 1000 yen and took 70 minutes.

From there get the Ginza subway line to Shimbashi station. This should cost about 120-160yen and take 10-15 minutes. From Shimbashi Station it's a short walk/taxi ride to Shiodome.

Edit: Looking at the Park Hotel website there is an underground walkway direct from Shimbashi Station to the hotel.

No problem The subway is confusing at first as there are a lot of lines but you'll be using it like a pro by the end of the day. All the maps have English on them and if you look lost I'm sure a friendly Japanese person will offer you help.
