Hi - this sounds great. Good luck to you guys. If I come through Ho Chi Minh City I will definitely try to go on a tour with you.

For people that have never been before - Ho Chi Minh City is great - but if it is your first time and you stay in the typical backpacker area - it is busy and dirty and there are many people trying to sell you stuff or begging - you may not get a nice feel for Vietnam at all and you may find it difficult to meet Vietnamese people that aren't selling you stuff. Just at first.

So I think this would be a great way to start off your trip. Meet some nice, normal, and generous people that want to practice English and want to help you. Learn some Vietnamese language and culture and make some friends before you start exploring the rest of Vietnam. That way you'll understand much more of what you are seeing for the rest of your trip and you won't be scared of the locals. What a great idea. I think other countries should consider it also - sounds excellent.
