[font=Times New Roman][size=2] Hi TP members Our family was in Egypt earlier this spring with another family. We used a private guide, an Egyptologist named Rani Mostapha . We had a wonderful trip and would definitely recommend that you hire a private guide and particularly Ahmed. He actually made all of the arrangements for our two week tour of Egypt, except our international airfare and accompanied us throughout. He booked our hotels and somehow managed to get us excellent rooms each time. The views from our rooms in Aswan in particular were fabulous. His English is very good ( we were concerned about hiring a guide with a heavy accent the kids might not understand, so we called him from the US for a chat before we chose him. If you cannot book Ahmed, I would recommend that you try to speak to your guide before committing. Ahmed is very knowledgeable and well organized, both of which were important to us as we were traveling with 7 children, aged 9 through 15. For our private two family tour Ahmed would personally guide us through the sites whenever it was permitted and stop frequently for "story time'' to explain the important features of each site and pertinent history. He managed to keep the children's attention and if the older children or parents wanted additional information he was able and willing to give more details and answer our questions. At the few sites where he was not allowed to accompany us, he conducted "story time" before we went in.This worked so well for our group.
I do not know how a day of touring in Cairo would cost since we booked our whole trip with Ahmed, but I expect his price is fair and promise that you will not be disappointed. His e-mail address is
ra_travel74@yahoo.com you can find more about him and Egypt in www.guideincairo.com I hope this helps and that you have a terrific trip. We did.
