"Knocked Up" was pretty funny though not the gutbuster I was told it was. A few of the plotlines (Ie. the one with the sister and her husband) were shakey but not bad. However I did laugh out loud in several parts so I would give it:

(almost) thumbsup.png Three and a Half Stars

I thought Knocked Up was hilarious. Although I have been traveling without television for 2 days so maybe I was happy to see anything. But I laughed quite a bit!!

I haven't seen the new Oceans movie, but the last one was so horrific that I can't imagine this new one being any better. I'll watch Damon or Pitt any day in their own movie, but with that many stars it just can't be good.

I finally got to see Black Snake Moan as apart of the Sydney Film Festival Last night and it was AMAZING!!!!! Christina even surprised me as i always thought she would be good (and bein my favourite actress she never disappoints) but she was amazin, the emotional dark place she was in to portray that character was done with such devastating fearless abandon it was moving on all emotional levels and sam jackson deserves to be nominated for an academy award as does Ricci!
my favourite parts of the film were the storm when lazarus sings to Rae and also when lazarus takes Rae to that bar. Sam jackson captivated me whilst singing that song...soo raw sooo good , for an actor hes quite a good blues singer. even justin timberlake was a million times better than i thought he'd be!!!!

10 Stars - HURRY to the theatre & buy it on DVD when it comes out!!!

just saw Black Snake Moan too and I thought it was great! Sam Jackson was really great in it, but Christina Ricci? Wow! I hear you on the "emotional dark place" lyric. She portrayed the character so well!

speak_cool.gif

And Notes on a Scandal was great too. Cate Blanchett rarely disappoints anyway but Dame Judy Dench was excellent!

I agree with you about Cate Blanchett but i would replace the word "rarely" and put in "never" hehehehe

i recently saw Hustle & Flow and The Fog. "Hustle & Flow" only interested me purely because Craig Brewer who directed and wrote Black Snake Moan also wrote and directed Hustle & Flow. Movie was good despite me not bein a fan of rap music and im fast becoming a fan of Taryn Manning.
"The Fog" was no where near as bad a critics would have you believe, remakes are never as good (in most cases) as the original and always invite harsh cricticism but i must say i enjoyed it - not the greatest movie but extremely enjoyable all the same

I saw Transformers on opening night. The transformers were very, very impressive, but I don't understand how Michael Bay is allowed to continue making movies. All he did was redo his Pearl Harbor movie, but with Transformers. It was the samew premise as Pearl Harbor...start with the love interst, take well over an hour (!) before finally having any action and then use that cheesy music during the war in the end to emphasize to us viewers that this was a significent scene.

Evan Alinight was awful which was a shame because I really enjoy Steve Carell. I felt like I was in church being preached too.

Apocolypto!!! Wow! This movie is FANTASTIC!!! From the incredible costumes, to the gorgeous backdrop to the 100% action-packed scenes! Holy!

Don't let the subtitles deter you. They're only there mostly in the first 20 minutes and then the rest is pretty much all action with beautiful cinematography! I put off renting it b/c of the subtitles ( you have to be in a certain mood) but that was a dumb move.

I just saw the new Harry Potter movie. I enjoyed it and it was entertaining. However, I wish that after 5 movies they could move beyond a plot involving a conflicting teacher at the school that gets more emphasis (2 hours) than the actual villain and the confrontation made at the end.

I have to admit, the first thought I had when I heard about the Fifth Harry Potter Flick was...
There were Four!? blink.gif

As for the Pirates, the first one was hilarious. The second one...not so much. The reviews of the third went on about how it was long drown out and not exiting enough to justify the lengh. I should have listened. I get to go to so few movies these days. The reviews in the paper are by no means a reliable source of enjoyment evaluation, but this time I should have listened. Pirates embraced the new trend of less editing for more movie, forgetting the old reasoning, of more editing, more quality, or simply, less is more. Sitting through what should have been reserved for DVD outtakes (which I never watch, these scenes were usually cut for a reason) only serves to take away from the story and the fun you might otherwise have had watching it. I guess it wasn't horrible, but a lot of movies are better.
