Canada Quebec Montreal: Youth Hostel Montreal; www.hostellingmontreal.com/ Free wireless, just make sure you ask for it at the desk.
Germany Berlin Potsdamer Platz: Sony building, you can sit on the park benches & browse for free
The Netherlands Amsterdam Central Area: Free wifi at the Coffeeshop Little Out of town: At the 4 Star Amsterdam Artemis Hotel - a 30 minute tramride away, but only €79 a night for two people in a lovely room
UK London Free wifi available along the Thames
US San Francisco The Metreon: provided by the city, another hotspot also provided by Sony
Good idea Jess - there are sites out there dedicated to wifi hotspots but they are inevitably out of date. I've just been to Amsterdam with my laptop, so here are my finds:

well, San Francisco is certainly full of hotspots - some you have to pay for, some are free. I found that at the Metreon, there were several free connections.

Boston is full of hotspots everywhere, I don't even pay from my own house! Mayor "Mumbles" Menino plans to wireless the whole city as well, though I don't even think it's needed, all you have to do is basically turn on a computer almost anywhere, and you can hitch hike on a network.

Heh, I read the other day you can get arrested for using someone elses network in England...
Geez, those brits sure do have some funny ideas. All you have to do is encrypt the network if you don't want others to use it. I wonder how they could find you, but of course, that is also the country that arrests you for using a television without a license.

Hmmm. Perfect is not the word I would use. Only one wifi hotspot listed for the whole of Korea?! Thanks for the resource tho - I am sure some will find it of use.
West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton Alberta. It's not free though. 'Fraid I can't recall the price since I no longer live there, but if I recall correctly they have rates for hourly, daily, and monthly.

Just pretend I wrote something clever and witty here.
In new york city.. EVERYWHERE.. McDonalds, Starbucks, most resturants, book stores, nearly everywhere is a wifi hot spot.
