I am a 23 year old female, planning on taking the Trans-Siberian from Beijing to St. Petersburg mid May, or early June. Anyone interested in joining, or planning smthing similar during those dates?

I will flying into Beijing near the end of may and then intend travelling on the train during June through Mongolia to Russia, with stops in between ending up in St Petersburg by about the 7th of July or there abouts, with the intention of getting to Finland for a 2 day festival in mid July! Then travelling through Europe to get to the UK by August. I'm 29 yrs old by the way (30 in June!!!).....male, from Tasmania.

I just realised you probably won't be venturing into Mongolia if you are catching the Tran siberian railway. Would this be correct?

You have an interesting name...where abouts are you from?

Hi!

I actually already got my tickets to leave Beijing mid-May so unfortunatelly we probably wont meet on the way. I actually will get off in Mongolia (taking the Trans-Mogolian for the first leg of the journey). I am from Greece but the name comes from Russia (I dont even speak the language though).

Really sorry to miss you for so little. If you have any questions when i get on it, just ask!

Hi,

normally it is ok to be alone. For safety concerns though, it is better to have a bed in Platzkartni: open wagon with 54 beds: most russians will take care of you, feed you, watch over your stuff etc...
In a 2 or 4 person compartment, if you are with the "wrong" people, you are stuck.

(I think here is no Platzkartni between Beijing and UB though)

No Problem

Well I hope you have a good trip....its a pity i'm leaving it a little bit later....but it will still be fun regardless and there will undoubtedly be other travellers to tag along with along the way.

I just bought my plane ticket today and will arrive in Beijing on the 23rd of May!!! I finally decided on a date and will soon tell work!

I can hardly wait to get there now...am counting down the days!

Well enjoy your trip and who knows we still may bump into each other sometime!

Have a good 1

Tommo
