There is a shameful secret the State of Quintana Roo (Cozumel, Cancun, Playa del Carmen) does not want anyone to know about the multitude of daily “mishaps” that occur in the State. These types of atrocities that the Government and Tour Operators attempt to “hide” are what forms everlasting opinions. April 26, 2003 the Occidental Grand Xcaret killed a little boy, Brent Midlock. The story is sick and disgusting, and the Grand Xcaret management refuses to accept responsibility when there is solid evidence, and eyewitnesses. How can people be so none caring and evil? They stole an 8 years life/future, shattered a family, friends, and a community. The Government protects them with a complete lack of logic and inconsistencies. It is an outrage and atrocity and many from that resort need to be the charged with this crime and some way some how they will. They have lied, interfered with the investigation, and have demonstrated a lack of human decency that exceeds human comprehension.

The lack of logic in this case frightens many, and it is now 2 years. Someone from the Mexican Government needs to take charge and take control of the State, and the resorts who believe that you can pay and make anything go away. The management of the Grand Xcaret must be charged with this crime and acknowledge what they did was very wrong. If Mexico wants to continue to promote tourism then safety standards and respect for life must be valued. The travel industry should have a social, moral and ethical responsibility to NOT promote properties that do not acknowledge that they are operating with gross negligence/ incompetence. Occidental Grand Xcaret management is even quoted in an AP article that "the pool was working fine on the day of the incident". One critical and obvious question is why is Brent Midlock dead? To deliberately lie in the face of truth and fact is audacity times 3. These types of senseless atrocities must STOP and the only way to do so is by sending these guilty, caviler corporations a message they understand….NO BOOKINGS! How can anyone knowingly send an innocent tourist to a property that knowingly manslaughtered a child?
