Hmm, okay, not sure how to do this. I added a topic about a moose hanging from a wire in the N.A. forum, and wanted to include the photo for effect, and was not sure how to do it. ??.

So, it's got to be in the form of a gif, right? I can save the pic to my computer, but am pretty lost after that.....it asks for the url, but when I put it in it tells me it's the wrong format.

What you have to do is right click on the picture (it can be in jpg too) and "copy image location" then click on the add image icon in the post toolbar (the one with the tree) and then paste it in the link box that comes up.

I add the photo into the moose thread for you.

Hmmm, okay, I tried it and..shcuks, it didn't work.

When I right click on a picture I get these as my options;

save pictureas
email picture
print
got to my pictures
set as background
set as desktop
copy
add to favourites
send to page info

I even tried a couple of different pictures. Hmph. Any other suggestions?

What browser are you using? If you know the address of the photo you could just type it in.

I just reread your initial post. Don't save the photo to your computer. Right click on the photo which is on the internet.

We use I.E. at work (can you tell I'm working hard? hehehe)

Stopped saving it and tried it the other way but no go.

If I can type in the address, then how come I can't just copy and paste it? I forget what the TP thing tells me when i try to do that...but it's something about the format I paste it in as...

On IE there should be a right-click option 'copy shortcut', which is the address of the photo. I dont know why there isn't if there isn't.
You should be able to just copy and paste the address...what are you trying to paste?

Experiment on adding photo, etc to a Forum post.

After opening Add Reply, scroll down a bit. See
File a window for entry then Browse

Click ;Browse'

A window appears listing your HD files. Select the one you want and Click 'Open' You can scroll around from Desk Top to Sub folders to locate your desired attachment.

The URL for that attachment appears in the window between 'File' and Browse'

Then click on 'Add into Post'

Now let's see if that worked. I'll scroll down a bit and click on 'Add Reply'

Well that seemed to work okay. If you click on the 'thumbnail photos' an enlarged picture appears.

Now it seems to me that I added a cartoon to a post I made about Bushism. But did it a somewhat different way.

Think it involved right clicking on the image which was an e mail then saving the image location and pasting it somewhere. Maybe a Siscri suggests.

Think what I did is right click on a photo then Left click on 'Copy Link Location'
Then go to Forum Post that I Added
Right click in here. tThen left click on 'Paste' resulting in the URL above.

Now I shall scroll down and click on "Add Reply"

Seems to have worked. Clicking on the Link brings up the random photo I copied from sharivn Travel Blog.

You love it. Gives you a chance to show off your expertise Si! You know I was one of those kids who never stopped asking questions.....

Sooo, just to be as much of a pain in the ass as possible, I have another question. The way radsolv is explaining the process, his photo turns out like that little one he has in his post above. The way Carm explains it ( and the way it turned out the moose piccie) is the photo comes out large (which I prefer) and no frame around it.

Si, I am going to try your way. I'll just try posting them in here until I get it right. Until then, consider yourself completely burdened with my zillion questions, and you'll like it too! Oh, and I would appreciate a timely response!

So I usually use Firefox but I went into IE and tried it out. I right clicked on the photo and then went under Properties. Then I copied the link and pasted it into the Image box.

Does that help?

Trying Carm's solution. But where is the "Image Box"

Tried Pasting the URL of her animal into
File: ______________ Browse

but a Right Click did not have a Paste Option.

So have just pasted the URL into this Add Post window. and let's see what happens.

I think it will just Present the URL in orange so you must click on it to view the Picture.

But what you really want is the picture in the Post without any need to click here or there. Right?

Yes that's what happened. You can view the image but must click on the link. Rather more elegant if the picture appears as in Carm's post.

Btw,, should I know what animal is pictured there. Cute, yes. Is it Magic, the cat or a bunny or ....??

So again where is the "Image Box" into which the URL is to be pasted to get your results not mine.

Incidentally Dreamer, you solved an unasked Q I had about how to add Quotes, only part of them and multiple Quotes.

This back/forth info is so good! Radsolv, that is a hammie, a hamster. Well, it sure does look like one anyway!

The 'magic box'. When you're replying, look up at the toolbar. There is an icon with a little tree on it. If you hover on it it says 'insert image'. That's where the link goes. That's how I did it.

I like the ability to pick and choose certain parts of quotes. It breaks up the response a little and sometimes makes things make more sense.

Another try at adding Picture in Post.

OK now to set down each step in meticulous detail.

1. Select a Picture. [I chose one from TP's Home Page.
2. Right Click on it. > Menu appears. [View Image, Copy Image, Copy Image Location, Save Image as ..., etc.]
3. Left Click on Copy Image Location.

4. Go to Forum desired. Left Click on "Add Reply" > Entry window opens.
5. Left Click on tiny Tree Icon at Top of Post Entry screen.
6. Prompt appears > Enter URL
7. Position Cursor in small pop up window for URL
8. Right Click > several options appear
9. Left Click on "paste"
10. URL that was 'Copy Image Locaton' appears in small window.
11. Left Click on 'OK' button.
12. The URL appears as code in 'Add Post' large window.
13. Add text describing picture. [Post can't be empty of text.]
14. Scroll down. Left Click on "Add Reply"
15. When the processing is quickly done, your new post should appear with the complete picture in living color and [almost] life size. Hopefully.

Did I miss any steps? Does that help?

Hey Art, thats a guinea pig. I have never had one. But I thought that was a kinda cute picture. Personally I prefer hamsters and ferrets.

Magic is a CAT! Silly! I will post a photo of her.


Here she is high on catnip, that is why she is all covered in it and her eyes are funny.


Anyway! Glad we got this all worked out I imagine the posts are going to get alot more colorful now.
