Hiya,

Does anyone recommend a good hostel or resonably priced hotel/B&B to stay at in Amsterdam? I usually stay at the Bulldog but my Mother is coming with me and I don't think she will like sharing a room with 6 other people. She's a clean freak as well although the pot, red light district and gay area doesn't bother her at all. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Cheers,

Cheryl

Let us know! If not, then maybe check out some bed and breakfasts....Moms seem to like those.

Well, the best and cheap accommodation in terms of hostels in Amsterdam I heard was the flying Pig hostel.

But apart from that there are so many hotels and hostels that its hard to make up your mind for one. Because in the end there is only one bed you need. I will have a read on vacation planners and city trip advisors websites before going..

The Bulldog does have double rooms. We spent 4 days in one in March. I thought they were very clean, and I'm a custodian. However, they only clean before you get there, then your on your own. Which was fine with me, I prefer to do my own cleaning...just wish I'd had a vacuum. We have already reserved there for our next trip. If you know when you going to be there, call them ASAP to see if there are any 'private double esuite' available. They go quick. We were able to get a deluxe for our next trip, but we reserved about 8 months in advance.

Now, I think is a good time to go to Amsterdam for a weekend trip. I looked at all cheap airline sites easyjet and ryanair that go from London to Amsterdam and its all below a 100. I love that idea, so I can spent a bit more on accommodation. This time I will try a cheap hotel instead of a hostel I am excited what I am going to choose. There are a lot of reviews about budget hotels in Amsterdam. I let you know. too. T.

My boyfriend and I went to Camping Zeeburg, a short tram ride out of Centraal station. It was nice to get out of downtown Amsterdam, it has complete and quality amenities, on the water, etc. and although tents can be very close and cramped in high season....still a great place and well priced..they also have cabins for those not inclined to tent it in the possible Dutch rain....check out their website...

I would book an apartment instead of a hotel.
I once stayed at the one you can book at:
http://www.myspace.com/isyoursandyoursandyours
The place was great, the location was great (in the old center) and the pricing was good.
take care, Louise
