I was wondering how many of you Local Experts have met with other Local Experts on your trips? I know that very often Louise is out there and meets with other Local Experts, and members, so this is already happening in the United States.

Don’t you think it would be a good idea to meet once a year – something like a Reunion and have a party.
Somebody would be in charge, for the dinner party (the local expert let’s say of the country that has been chosen. However, this should be arranged at least 5 or 6 months ahead.
For instance I can arrange a gathering in either Cyprus or Greece if I know the number of people coming. I mean the Restaurant that we are going to have the party in.
Members can be invited as well if they wish of course!

Comments or ideas on this?

Goodness Popi, that sounds really nice. Let me check with Jacques to see if Travelpod will spring for at least a business class tickets for all of us. The idea is great, but the expense may be beyond many of us. On the other hand, the idea of meeting other local experts on your own patch of turf, as some people already have, sounds interesting to me. Anyone's welcome to let me know when they will be in Miami.

Conference call sounds good to me because everywhere I have to go it woudl be 4x the price (wife + 2 kids), unless it happens to "coincide" with our yearly or bi-yearly vacation smile.gif

Hmm... we tried this before and it was so hard because of all the different time zones.

Does anybody want to pick a day that is good for them, and then we can do one?

Hey people, anyone who doesn't mind dogs can come visit us in NC anytime. We just moved into a double wide/modular home, so it will be a very...."realistic" NC experience...lol. And whenever we make our almost yearly European pilgrimage, we'll try to say hello to anyone in the area. Just look for the passenger stepping off the plane to theme music and fireworks.....it's important to make an entrance, even if YOU'RE not important.

I love it! That's making a more impressive entry than President Obama. I'm off to Eastern Europe in November. Give me your secret to getting the Prague Tourist Board to meet us with a band and fireworks. Goodness, my wife would be so impressed!

Just joking of course, but if the music and fireworks are in your mind, that's almost as good.

Yes, we met up in Dublin a couple of months ago.

I'm also planning on meeting Sian and a few others in Scotland soon. And Louise, who was the Northern Ireland local expert - I might be meeting her in Dublin in the next couple of weeks

It would be so great to meet other members and local experts but the costs would be so high for some of us. I wonder whether Travel Pod administration can arrange to sponsor some tickets for some members.......

For me, it's been more, 'right place, right time' - for the meet-ups I've mentioned above, it's just 'cause we were/are so close regionally, and it's more easy to meet.
