The Rich Text Editor now supports clear formatting, undo and redo. To use the clear formatting select the text you wish to clear formatting for, and then click the "Clear Formatting" button. Enjoy!

Cheers,
Shaun

I joined Travelpod after a recent trip to Turkey. I'm very thankful to have something like this available to document and share our journey, but I'm having trouble getting special characters to stick as I try to use proper Turkish spellings. With the old editor, I could get troublesome letters to work by using special codes, such as & #304 (except with no space between the & and the #) for the capital I with a dot over it (e.g., "& #304stanbul" to get "İstanbul"). If I just put the İ directly in the text, it would show up as a Y with an accent mark over it (Ý).

Now I see this behavior:
* Wizard mode: İ gets changed to Ý
* Wizard mode: & #304 stays & #304
* Advanced mode: in some entries İ gets changed to Ý, in other entries İ works
* Advanced mode: & #304 gets changed to Ý

Any thoughts?

Also, consider this a vote for some sort of "clear format" button, or an option to block font changes. I didn't even realize the editor had changed until I pasted in some text that was a different size, then I had to go into advanced mode and clean out all of the font tags.

Thanks!

-Nathan

P.S. Had to edit this to get the special codes to show up without being converted. It looked OK in preview mode, but when the real post appeared, all of the special codes got converted (the way the old entry text editor used to work).

Nathan,

I think you will have to use the advanced mode to enter your special characters, & #304 for instance. Just go into the advanced mode enter & #304 and &#304 should appear. The current editor does not have very good language support.

Cheers,
Shaun

i tried this last night to no avail. the code sequence got changed to Ý, which is incorrect. i still see that behavior in a new entry i created last night, but interestingly enough it worked in an entry that had been created before the change.

Wow! Why am I so clueless. I check into TravelPod almost everyday, some times several times.

Then suddenly I see about 15 entries to this Forum on "new rich text editor" all the commentators obviously up to speed on its uses, nuances and bugs.

Was it ever announced? And more importantly is there any where like in FAQs or Help that it explains what it is all about and how to use it, when and why?

This is another example of where a savy member could write up an explanation and post it in FAQs or Help because a developer like McQuaker may be too do so.

How did all these other members become aware of the new feature and how to use it? Just trial and error or genius ...?

A peeve I have not just here but in a number of other totally different programs. Eg:

At the bottom of an entry being edited is printed:
wizard mode
Click on it and then appears advanced mode.

Does anybody else see the ambiguity here or am I just dense? When "wizard mode" appears does it mean I am In wizard mode or does it mean click on 'wizard mode' in order to enter 'wizard mode'. Or should it be obvious? If the text read either:
"You are in wizard mode" Or "Click to enter wizard mode" that would make matters pellucid for types like myself.
