QUOTE(rbisset @ Dec 8 2006, 11:14 AM) *

"Damien Martyn has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket with immediate effect."

Wow

Even less chance of getting 20 wickets now!! I think he knew that he'd be for the chop when Watson gets fit so decided to bail out on his own terms...Ashley Giles take note.

Personally, for us, it is no great loss. I was there in 1994 season at the SCG when Martyn lost us the game. I never forgave him and never rated him from that day on

I don't mind the time difference as I'll be working afternoons, so can set the alarm and watch the final session of each day. I think it will be a draw if the reports about the pitch are true, and if Monty plays (surely this time?) I hope he does well otherwise Fletcher will have an excuse to bring Giles in again...

Looking forward to hearing the banter between Warne and Bell again..."Sherminator" was a classic!

Yeah I'm ready. Wouldn't surprise me if we name an unchanged side again. Bloody time difference.

I can understand about the time dif, but it just means we won't get to see the kick off. Hopefully, they will dump that fool Giles and I hope Aus don't pick Symonds. Now there isa knob if ever I saw one !!! Arrogant knob actually. We saw him in Bangers, hanging around Wasim Akram like a bad smell !!!

Being an Aussie, I must say I was disappointed in our effort, but I have been saying all along. Play Panesar and you Poms did, and we got what we deserved. Bloody Warne dropping a catch again. Should have been three down

Well that could have been a lot worse but it's disappointing to not equal your score. Lets hope for an awesome bowling performance and Aussies out for less than 150!

Edit: What a start! 0/1 first ball! What a peach of a delivery biggrin.gif

To be honest I didn't expect us to last into day 5 so well done to Bell and Cook for gettings some good scores together. Still don't think we'll get anything out of this test. Pietersen like to smack it around and Freddie hasn't turned up for this series yet.

I'd be very surprised but our batting in general has been poor. We just haven't been good enough and Australia are far better at the moment. The next Ashes series could be very different as it's not for a few years and most of your current squad will be retired. England on the other hand are a relatively young side and will have had time to gel as a team.
