Yeah, you'll probably be OK. Don't splurge too much though...

7 weeks of holidays you mean?
If I were in your place, I would make it 1500 -1800. It is better to have more and bring back, than feel sad because money is finishing.
Besides, if you bring back money you will feel much better, and as soon as you return from this trip....leave for the next. (ha ha)

If money are not enough, then how will you enjoy your stay there?
You will feell miserable! Save a bit more, and be more idependent and do what you feel like doing there without thoughts of money shortage!
Besides, it is such a beautiful country.....that believe me you want to do everything! Enjoy it and have much fun. Next year I am planning to go there too!

I spent $1000 USD a month in SE Asia. I could have done it cheaper if I wanted to. But I did splurge and drink perhaps too much.

It 100% depends on lifestyle you choose while traveling. A large beer in Thailand is 1 from a 7-11 and it's perfectly normal to sit with friends drinking a beer on the street- so a great budget option.

Go somewhere touristy and you'll pay 3 for exact same beer.

So as you see it's choice. Take Patong in Phuket total tourist zone with hotels in excess of 200 a night, well you can also stay in a very nice budget place for 7.

Thing is in asia you'll have cheap weeks and expensive- so depends how much you want to be careful, it's VERY easy to blow your budget once you start having fun though.
