Hello everyone!

As some of you already know i'm about to do a RTW trip starting in November and I will stay in australia/sydney for the first 3 months.

I've been look at different suburbs in sydney and I was wondering if you guys would be kind enough to suggest which ones I should look into..

So what do you suggest for a young couple (gf quite scared of dodgy neighborhoods) in their early 20's, with a maximum of 350aud per week to spend on accommodation? Preferably not further than 5-10km from the city center.

thank you all in advance for your help!

Gonz

Oh I have heard of that area in Sydney that's all coffee shops, maybe you'll want to live there. Am I confused about this?

I can't remember the name of it.

Hi sydneysider,

I saw your reply on the other post. But other than the price I was also looking for you sydney people to tell me a tiny bit about some suburbs that might be better than others.

There are several suburbs where one could find accommodation for 350 or less a week, but out of those, which ones would you recomend?

Hi Gonz

i too have already suggested some suburbs but in light of the abovementioned id scrap living in or around newtown area as ur gf my not like the "arty unkempt" vibe it has ( some may say its "dodgy" but i dont think it is at all but am trying to give an unbiased opinion) . i lived in newtown myself. just recently moved away and have every intention of moving back!!! i love it there, i felt at home and love its cafe/night life vibe - im not diggin living back in "suburban sydney" again *moan*

back on topic apart from places ive previously mentioned i will have to research for you - 350AUD per week. should post another reply in next few days for you smile.gif

awesome Gerre! Thanks for your help and time! We will have a look at the suburbs once we get there too but mostly I wanted to know if there was somewhere much better than anywhere else and somewhere that I should never go close to smile.gif either way I'm sure I'll have a wonderful time in Sydney biggrin.gif

You can find some great little places for $350 a week! Some great suburbs are:

Newtown
Surrey Hills
Oxford Street
Potts Point (you may find a small flat or studio)
Coogee
Randwick
Paddington
