I prefer Jasper over Banff...more natural. And not so cold if you go in the summer.

Sure there are, and very beautiful arrangements too, spock. Both places have magnificent hotels and smaller motels to stay in, so please come and see these beautiful places soon.

Jasper is my favourite place in Canada. I lived there and around Banff for a few years. For a long time after I moved away, I always had dreams of the beautiful landscape. The blue-green streams we used to canoe in, the lush green trails we would bike or hike, the beautiful lakes we'd swim in during the summertime, and most of all, the rugged and magnificent mountains that would almost beg you upward. I am really missing it.

Chitral Valley, Pakistan

Some of the treks around here are superb, knowing that there are SFA tourists. Catch a mini bus towards the Kalasha Vallies and go and hang out with the Kalasha people. There was no tourists when we were there. Three hours of electricity per day through hydro power. When they turn off the lights, the show the sky puts on is indescribable.

And, there are meant to be better vallies further North, which is where we will head next time. Forget the West, get into Pakistan

Story and photos can be found here

Have you watched the Michael Palin Himalaya series? There's a big section on Northern Pakistan in there and it looks amazing! Def on my list for the next trip along with the Kashmir area in India.

Palin went to the Kalasha Valley and we stayed in the same guesthouse as him. When he crosses over into India, he states that he has not drunk any alcohol since arriving in Pakistan. They told us otherwise because they brew their own. It is the only place allowed in Pakistan to consume, and it is such a beautiful place. They also say that the Shandur Pass where the highest Polo game takes place is amazing. A guy we met went, and him being the only Westener got to sit with the President !!!

I trekked Tiger Leaping Gorge in Yunnan, China and it was stunning! Walking along a tiny mud path, winding around the cliffs with a 2km drop to the Yangtze river flowing below. 2 of the best days on my entire trip and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Lol whats your problem with Canadians? My mates been saying he'll move to Canada for years but never will.

I couldn't be dealing with the cold weather. Although it was 10C here the other day and I actually used the term "boiling" when I got home! Come March I'm sure I'll be sunbathing in 12C weather like all the other poms!!

Hmmm, have you been reading this site with your eyes closed? Channucksville is worthy of attention for it's beauty, but there is more to life than Canada. We write about it, you just see what you want to see when it comes to Channucks. 'Selective reading" I think it's called.....
