I haven't been in years, but I remember it being a beautiful country....with the added bonus of being able to drive across it in a day! haha. It fits in well with Austria and Switzerland and is generally a nice place to visit, although I'm not sure if it has what would be called tourist attractions!
Definitely worth a stop though if you're in the neighbourhood!
Liechtenstein is only 60 some square miles in size, (160km)so don't drive fast! (About the same size as Washington D.C.) I visited several years ago, and don't remember much of a change from Austria and Switzerland. We were going to spend the night, but by the time we found a place we were out of the country. Try the capitol of Vaduz for things to do.
As I recall prices were in line with Austria/Germany/Switzerland etc. Unemployment there is 1.3%! Only 34,000 residents. Interesting place. I would like to hear from anyone who has been there recently. I guess I could use the search for travelers feature!
Currency is the Swiss Franc. I was there years and years ago and we ought a patch and paid two Swiss Francs for a Visa stamp, because this is what you do

I went there last year (sorry no travelpod about it, I didn't know you guys existed them). I've heard that the castle is really nice.
My boyfriend has relatives that live there so we didn't do any "site seeing" (I really don't think there is anything there).
They get the föhn effect. Wind from Italy cools as it moves up and over the mountains, then as it comes down into Lichtenstein it warms significantly and makes dry, strong, warm winds. It gives some people headaches, but keeps the country really warm. I felt like I was in California.
I went there in September last year- pretty beautiful countryside- I went on a Sunday and it was totally deserted bar a few Japanese tourists, a few backpackers and the Liechtensteiners going about their jobs in the tourist industry- only the touristy shops, cafes and the passport stamp kiosk were open. The castle is worth a look and the parliament building has quite a nice paint job, but thats about it really.
