The Hanoi Elegance hotel is in the old quarter of Hanoi. My husband and I have just stayed there for a week in Oct 2006. The staff were always helpful. The breakfast was wonderful lots of fruit, cereal and cooked stuff if you are that way inclined. I asked for the traditional Pho (bowl of soup) a couple of times and they happily obliged. The deluxe room we stayed in had a bath which was great for that soak after a hard day. We spent a night on a boat at Halong Bay (a must!) and left our luggage at Hanoi Elegance hotel. When we rechecked in there was two bottle of complimentary water and a bowl of fruit which was a nice touch (the Vietnamese dragon fruit is so gorgeous to look at I didn't want to eat it!) A 2 minute walk to the Hoam Kiem lake. Hanoi still has lots of charm but I suggest you get there soon as it is changing rapidly! The Hanoi Elegance hotel is more than a 3 star hotel and better than many hotels I stayed in in Australia. We booked through asiarooms so got a good deal $55 Australia a night including breakfast. Because we extended our stay while there they still gave us a cheap rate well below the rake rate.

I think that Hanoi Elegance hotel is over rate. You should stay at Hanoi view hotel. This is a new hotel in the old quarter of Hanoi. The hotel is located in the centre of the town with direct access to main tourist places to visit. The quality of service provided was excellent and given by competence employees. Good hotel with excellent location. We payd 35$ for a room with big bathrooms and a big balcony, private computer with internet. Good value for the money.
