Hi

I am going to a friend's wedding in Phuket but want to make it around to Koh Samui. Does anyone have a good route to follow that won't take that long...time is a little limited!

All suggestions welcome!

Hey Chesca. Well, I have an idea for a route for you:

1. From Phuket: take a ferry to Krabi (mainland). It's about an hour and a half. Not sure of price, but it shouldn't be much.

2. From Krabi: you can hop a bus to Surat Thani easily. Shouldn't take you more then 3 hours or so. About 200-300B as far as I remember.

3. From Surat Thani: there are buses leaving Surat for the ferry to Samui about 8 times daily, so no worries there. It's not far at all. The ferry cost is about 90B and its approx. 2 and a half hours one way.

If you're not that ambitious, just fly! You can fly from Phuket to Samui. Not sure of the cost, but just check it out online. It shouldn't be that much.
All depends on how much time you have. I prefer the bus or train to flying if the distance is not that far, as there is more of an interaction with the people.

Hope this helps! There are many ways to get where you're going in Thailand. I find for any travel in the south, I just jump on a bus. Nothing is really that far away. I was married in the very south of Thailand just about 2 years ago. You are going to have a great time!!! The Thai's LOVE a wedding!!!! The Thai's belief is that the groom must have one drink with each guest! Warn the bride!!!!! I wish someone would have warned me!! Hahhaha! Ahhh, good times....

There are at least 3 flights a day with bangkok airlines plus more with thai airlines. Doubt it'd be more than 2000 baht ($US54) one way.

I flew from Phuket to Bangkok for about $40-ish CDN the last time. Samui is so much closer. So prolly a good deal, especially if you are that short on time.

Take the air route rather going by road.
