I've never traveled out of the country during October but wondered what do you guys think would be the best place to celebrate Halloween?

Has anyone been to any great Halloween celebrations to boast of? Will you be abroad for during Halloween this year? I know it's mainly a Western tradition but I've heard of lots of parties worldwide. Some people (locals included) even celebrate in Bangkok! Not much of a surprise since it's a pretty fun time to celebrate.

I wouldn't leave Canada for Hallowe'en either!! It's fab!!!! I have relatives in Welland, Ontario, and I bought loads of Hallowe'en paraphenelia years ago when I was there, which I still have!!! In fact - I wasn't even there at Hallowe'en, it was around this time, so I'm guessing all the Hallowe'en products are already in your shops???

I've always celebrated it in some way - my fave costumes (made myself!) have been Marge Simpson and a Fembot from Austin Powers!

In the UK, all the theme parks have Hallowe'en special days, with scary Hallowe'en Rides (Alton Towers; Chessington world of adventures etc)

In Ireland, it's a holiday, woo hoo! The holiday falls on the closest Monday, so this year we have 26th October off

I miss Hallowe'en! crying_anim02.gif

There's no Hallowe'en in Guilin. I did carve a gourd last year though.

Halloween over here is great. This year, for the little one (oh, and who am I kidding, totally for me too!) we're going to fill our front porch with carved pumpkins! Can't wait! I wonder what he'll think of all the costumes. Hopefully they don't give him nightmares!

I heard there is some Hallowe'en things that go on in Shanghai. I'm going to try to find out. I might go to Shanghai for Hallowe'en.

The International Students of my school hosted the first ever Haunted House last year which was a great success. They spooked many students (a few to tears wink.gif ) and teachers. It was a great introduction about Halloween for many of our students. We plan to do the same this year.

Oh, sorry! wink.gif Well, you're just going to have to come here and see and experience it all for yourself one day when you happen to find yourself in Guelph.

That sounds really fun! So, do tell, what was your favourite costume? Did you dress up?

My favorite was probably one of the students who dressed as a psycho geisha girl and crawled around on the floor. The students being lead through the dark "house" would never see her until she grabbed at their legs. But she paid for her scary tactics with some nice bruises from crawling around despite wearing kneepads.

I didn't dress up but was acting as a guide and just helping to control the hoards of students who wanted to enter. What was quite amusing was we told the elementary and junior high kids to say "Happy Halloween" if they got scared. Having these kids grab tightly onto your arms and shout this phrase was indeed quite funny.

ahaha! That's too funny. I'm sure it was quite a sight! I'll have to keep that in mind for a future costume smile.gif

I bet New Orleans is amazing for Halloween. Shanghai sounded awesome, I bet Tokyo or Hong Kong would be fun!
