Well, we have had beers, now what is everyones favourite wine

Reds - I love Rioja, Cote du Rhone, Lebanese, Tunisian, Bulgarian, Chilean

Whites - Sauvignon Blancs from most countries, but if I drink white, generally, it has to be champagne and it has to be vintage. Pol Roger, Bollanger or my favourite, Ruinart

I am no wine expert. I am only an expert on getting it down my throat and knowing what I like once I have had a taste. I am still working on the "knowing about wine" bit. That being said, I love red wine. Chilean seems to be my fave. One of my best friends is started the vintner program here at Brock U, so I am counting on him to educate me!
Hate white wine. Got really sauced on the stuff at about 15. And I mean REALLY sauced, and now, the smell of it makes me want to bow down to the porcelain God.

Waking you need good white wine. There are some that smell of cats piss. Sancere is very very nice, German wines I find way to sweet. Cloudy bay is good. There are some very nice Californian. Brown Brothers of Australia make very decent wines. Can't wait to go back to Tunisia in January so I can bring a load back. Spain is coming up for me soon, so I will drink a bucket load of Rioja, and if you can find white Rioja, heaven. So nice, it just melts in your mouth, but it is not cheap. When in Rheims, champagne is the choice, but as stated it has to be vintage, and if you ever get over towards the French/Swiss border, Gervery Chambertin is the red wine choice. So so nice

Thanks, but no thanks. Think I'll stick with red. I like a nice Syrah.

One day, your taste buds will mature and you will enjoy a good white wine. Trust me, there is nothing like waking up and having a bottle of vintage champagne in bed

15 years later and I still can't touch the stuff. Oh, and did I mention that I only like champagne with OJ?

You need vintage. Trust me. If you are ever over this way and you have the chance, I would love to feed you some, but then again, you are more of a Beer Lao girl

Beer Lao, Beer Lao,
Oh I love you,
And how!

Seriously tho, as I am getting older, my tastes are definitely changing and I am trying many new things. Wine is someting I have always liked to drink, but now I am getting a little knowledge as well, which is good, b/c I am definietly interested in learning more. I am really looking forward to Steve getting his vintner certification so he can have more time to enjoy the juice and teach me about it as well! Ok, as you say, we should listen to our elders, so I will take your word for it and try if I ever get the chance. There is not much here for vintage tho, so I'll have to have it somewhere else.

Actually, I am going on a trip to Belgium in my car on the 15th/16th of December for Christmas markets and a Wine run. Can't wait. Chocolates from Belgium are awesome, and I will pick up cases of both red and white, but I will be picking up more vintage champagne. It just melts down the back of your throat. Not to dry, just right

The thing about champagne, to me, is that it is soo dry! Yech. That's what I don't like. I also never used to like soda or tonic, way back, but when I discovered how good they go with gin, I was a little more pleased! Maybe this vintage stuff is better, but I would have to try first. And yes, you will have to do the chocolate consuming. The thought of the two together is grossing me out.

Belgian chocolates are so so good.

Tell me if this is strange. I went on a few dates with this girl from Sydney and she only ever drank champagne with a strawberry in it. I don't mean when she drank champagne she only drank it with a strawberry, I mean the only beverage she was capable of was champagne with a strawberry in it. I used to feel like such a dick ordering it at bars. Even in her house she had all these strawberries and champagne all over the place. It freaked me out.

I think that is quite odd! ONLY champagne with a strawberry?? I could never imagine liking only one drink! Especially that one! ONE? I wouldn't even know where to start! Was she a picky bugger otherwise? That would seriously freak me out too, strawberries and champagne all over. Hmmm....

Vintage is not dry. Trust me, it melts. It is so so nice. This is why I drink it and why I have a cupboard full of it. It is my chosen tipple

MKaybe if it is standard champagne, but you wouldn't do this to French vintage from the champagne area. Are you sure it was champagne and not sparkling wine?

Not especially picky. She was pretty high-brow though. I think that's why she liked me, because I was a tramp. It was kind of like that movie Love Story - "what can you say about a 21 year old girl who liked champagne with a strawberry?"

I suppose technically it's sparkling wine because it wasn't from the Champagne area. But I still asked for champagne at the bar and she referred to it as champagne.

Siscri, what does the term high-brow mean? B/c I am having this vision right now, of it, and it is killing me. I'm sure it's not what I think it is, it must be something like high-class, or???
