Hello everyone,

I'm preparing a RTW trip starting November and I was wondering if anyone could help me with the prices of my ticket.

So far the best quote I got is of roughly 2000$ from an english travel agent (global village), my itinerary is as follows:

luxembourg(anywhere around is fine)-sydney-wellington-suva-honolulu-los angeles-vancouver-toronto-luxembourg(anywhere around is fine)

Do you reckon this is a good deal or can I find something cheaper?

The places I just named are only the places we are flying to, we intend to travel around each country aswell but I think I can do that using local public transports and also do a bit of a road trip in NZ with the kiwi camper vans.

thanks for your help!

Goncalo aka speedy

That sounds like a decent price but I'd wait for some replies from the experts. I've never traveled that way. I know you can incur many different costs depending on where you travel and how many flights you take.....

Yup, you can most definitely do it that way. It'll give you a great opportunity to delve a bit deeper into each destination too.

That sounds about right to me. You could also try STA Travel and Trailfinders if that's the sort of ticket you are looking for

I looked into a RTW ticket at one time, but for the routing I wanted to take, it was actually cheaper to consider individual tickets combined with land travel segments than going with the RTW option.

My understanding is another advantage of not getting a RTW ticket is flexibility. For example, say you fly into Vancouver and your RTW ticket has you flying from there to Toronto. However, you bus/train out thru Banff and the Rockies and end up in Calgary. From there, rather than returning to Van, you could just as easily go Toronto by WestJet (perhaps not an airline associated with your RTW) rather than having to return to Vancouver.

thanks for the info aopag. I was actually already planning on doing doing the vancouver - toronto bit by land and I just forgot to mention it.

I'm basically mostly using my RTW ticket for the long distance flights that require sea crossing. Just the 3 ocean crossings that i'm doing would actually be more expensive on their own than the overall cost of my RTW ticket so I think it is a pretty decent price smile.gif Plus I can always add or change some flights for something like 20£ + taxes (in case of adding flights).
