hey guys, I'm interested in learning spanish in costa rica.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has any experiences with doing this, or anyone who can think of specific cities or names of schools that they would recommend?

I've never been to costa rica, but would prefer to be in a city that isn't too commercialized, so I can get a better experience of the culture and hopefully still be able to meet people around my age (20-ish).

any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

From what I've heard, Costa Rica is likely to be an expensive place to learn Spanish, and lots of people are likely to speak English because of the tourism industry. I'd try a place like Guatemala or Nicaragua. However, I have NOT been to these places yet, so my word is just word on the street! I'll post again around Christmas when I've visited these places.

Best Wishes.

I´ve decided to take Spanish in Guatemala, and I settled on a school, Celas Maya. It´s pretty good...www.celasmaya.edu.gt.

I´m happy thus far, but will update this post at the end of the week with further impressions. The cost is 96$ without homestay, for five hours of class per day for four days. It´s on sale, and is not the cheapest school in town, but seems to be the best.

More to follow.
