Hi,

My husband and I are planning a two-week trip to Argentina and are trying to figure out if we can bring our two-year old along with us or if that would cause us to miss out on too many things that we'd like to do.

We'd like to visit Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, and Patagonia - El Chalten/Fitzroy, El Calafate/Perito Moreno, and possibly Ushuaia and Torres del Paine (Chile). I'm particularly concerned about Patagonia. We don't want to miss out big time on seeing some things because they'd be too difficult with a two-year old in tow. Please note, however, that we're not the super-outdoorsy type, so even without bringing our daughter, we're not the type to spend days on end hiking, either.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

All of these places are reasonably easy to access, and have good accommodations nearby. That being said, they are not Niagara Falls, so some walking (not hiking) will be required. Many of the places will not be stroller friendly, so you might consider a form of baby sling for older children, which will facilitate hauling your youngster over obstacles.

All the sites are incredible, so even if your child may not remember them much when she grows up, there will always be the photographs.

My advice? Do it. Access the web sites, which will help you plan the trip. The Argentine Tourist Board has an excellent site, and they also have overseas offices that you may be able to contact by phone or in person.

Thanks mmbcross. I have no problem with walking, and figured we'd need to get some type of baby backpack to carry her. Would your advice apply to Torres del Paine? From what I've read, it seems like everything is a 7-hour hike, which would definitely not be doable with a toddler on our back!

Sure, you can hike 7 hours, or for one hour, or just take a boat out into the lake. I'll bet the better lodges will also provide child care if you feel the day would be a little too much for your daughter.
