Hey all,

me and a goup of about 8 mates are planing on goin over to the phillippines at the end of this year. Were all either apprentices or students so we dont have a huge amount of money to spend but want to do alot of surfing and diving. We have all been to indo a few times and were wondering what the expences are like compared to bali. Once we found out feet we were living off about $10 australian a day including accomadation and food. It was very basic accomadation but were mor than willing to rough it. Just wondering f anybody can shed some light on how cheap accomadation can be and also how you go about getting to the remote parts of the country to go looking for waaves.

i would suggest if you like diving, snorkling, you to come to one of the greatest dive island isn the Philippines. Mactan Island. It is very affordable to stay, lots of dive shops, and great water. Lot of Culture and Fun. I will give you a few links to look at.

Most of The Dive shops here run thier own tours. If you experienced i am sure you wont need them. But you can search Mactan Island Dive Shops and i am sure you will get a wealth of info.

If you get to Bohol, get someone to take you to see the tarsier monkeys, they are the samllest of that species and are only found in Bohol and I believe borneo (I may be wrong about that)
One tip I would give you is that your visa only lasts for 21 days, It can be re-newed but you will have to go to a city where there is an immigration department e.g. manila, cebu. Your visa WILL be checked on departure and you will be fined if you have overstayed.
