Carmel-by-the-Sea, California (where Clint Eastwood use to be mayor) is the most romantic. Many couples go there to get married &/or spend their honeymoon. The whole Monterey Peninsula (including Highway 1 to Big Sur & Nepenthes) is perfect for lovers to take a vacation.

I agree, but this brought a funny memory to light.

I was in Mallory Square enjoying the sunset, street performers, etc and a "sunset cruise" sailed by. Needless to say there were a lot of drunken people on the boat exposing themselves to the crowd on shore. It was entertaining but I would hate to be having a romantic evening on the boat with my significant other and see that!

Oh my goodness - so many places ..... really it depends on WHO you are with rather than where, but in keeping with the thread I'd have to say the plains of the Serengeti.

Anse Chastanet Resort in St Lucia or better yet their newest addition Jade Mountain. Watch the video on youtube. Each room has it's own private infinity pool. Jump in the ocean and you can literally swim to one of the worlds best rated dive sites. Simply amazing! speak_cool.gif

I can mention quite a number of places starting from my country Cyprus.
- Protaras, Agia Napa, or Paphos.
GREECE
- The beautiful sunset at Kos Island up to Zia village.
- The unforgettable SUNRISE at Kolios beach in Skiathos.
- Mykonos and Santorini -Kaltera, or Fira.
- And watching a sunset in Manolates and Agios Constantinos in Samos.
- Bali, and Phuket
- Walking on the waves on the island of Koh Samui is also unique.

and I kept one last but also very exceptional - having holidays in CHALKIDIKI in North Greece.

I disagree.

There are certainly SO many romantic places. One could go on and on.

Paris would be up there for me.

I just spent the weekend in La Jolla, CA and the beaches there are just gorgeous. Watching the sunset with your babe is very romantic!

Rome or probably nearly everywhere in Italy is quite romantic.

I'll stop there!

Yes, I will add Montmarte -Paris as well.
We have been twice up there with my husband just because it is so romantic.

I always thought Paris was the big one for romance tongue.gif

I hear some parts of Japan can be exceptionally romantic too

I guess it all boils down to what you and your partner enjoy though, as a romantic setting is somewhat relative. I'd find watching the sunset in peace in the mountains more romantic than on the beach..

I think that romantic spots can be anywhere. Sometimes watching the full moon, others the sunset, others just walking.
It can be anywhere as long as you are in peace, and with the one you love!

Definitely Paris. Prague would be a wonderful choice also. Savannah,GA or Charleston, SC have that old south charm that makes them VERY romantic. We stayed in a 19th Century apartment in Budapest for our honeymoon that was formerly a single house, and our area must have been the ballroom. Heavy drawing room doors in the middle that opened to a Fireplace, wood floors, stained glass, huge balcony with enormous windows, probably 12 ft celings with detailed sculpted edges and a huge chandelier. THAT was romantic.
