hi

we're trying to get from england to oz without flying. We've planned our route up till indonesia but we're not sure how to cross the ocean safely without flying to get to oz. we don't mind where we enter oz but would like to try and carry out our goal.
We've heard the waters in that neck of the woods aren't safe so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how to do the trip we'd be grateful. We should be doing the journey in about early december.

Thanks

No worries. People have done it. You can do it. And it'll be a very rewarding experience. Have a dig around the forums on here. Other than that there are a few websites that deal with this route specifically, though I don't have them to hand right now and this thing's about to cut off. Good luck.. thumbsup.png

HI

thanks for your reply. I've had a nosey around the forums and there's a few people that talk about doing the reverse trip (from oz to indonesiea) but I haven't had much luck finding anyone doing the route we're doing. We'd be really grateful if you wouldn't mind forwarding us those websites you've mentioned. Have you done the route yourself?

Do you have enough money to do it without working? I know that some people get jobs on boats and do it that way.

we ndo have the funds if need be probably but would be happy to work if thats a cheaper way to do it. Do you know of anyone who's done the trip so we can contact details please or cargo ships etc? We leave to day - and still haven't worked out how we're doing the last leg! Hopefully it;ll all fall into place!

From what I've heard, you just go down to the docks and ask people if they want their decks scrubbed in return for room and board...

I'm pretty sure Technotrekker did it, but the other way... : http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entri...83320/tpod.html
